Schlepped some long hours in the bitterly cold 1000 sq ft space. The feats for this weekend included building work tables and a table saw table and assembled the new arrivals. With no climate control, temperature didn't touch 40 degrees! But despite the brain numbing conditions, Caleb never ceases to amaze me with his knack for details. Did you know he can spot a 1/16th of an inch off without using a tape? I know because I bet a homemake whole wheat heath cookie he was wrong- not smart. I didn't know I married a superhero.
Once again, I find myself feeling like homesteader on the frigid prairie forging a bright new future for our family. With a tool belt, work gloves, and tiny work boots I'm taking back our lives to be governed how we see fit! Facing the odds, using what we have, making the best, and burning buffalo shit to stay warm because our life is worth living the way we want and we're smart enough to make it work. Felt like this once before, when we bought our little house. We used whatever we could muster up to build a chicken coop, planted vegetables gardens, and built fences to keep our wild animals corralled. Same as today, we used what we could find, conserved our resources, invested in the things that mattered, and got really stinking creative to save money. And again, we smile in the face of..... well, not much danger.... the distinct possibility of failure! If it doesn't work, if we aren't smart enough, we'll die trying! I must have overdosed a little on Laura Ingalls Wilder as a kid....
Anyway, the shops a blast. Please feel free to stop by and oogle at Caleb's handiwork.
